My approach is engaging, exploratory, and insight-driven. I practice from a primarily psychodynamic and relational lens, while also integrating elements of CBT, DBT, narrative therapy, and existentialism. I believe that therapy can be an integral outlet to reflect and reevaluate, empowering us with a deeper understanding of ourselves as we move through the world.
As a Korean-American woman who made the decision to transition from a lawyer to therapist, I understand how daunting it can be to dive into generational and cultural trauma, complicated familial histories, internalized racist messaging, and hidden parts of ourselves wanting to be heard. My own therapeutic work involved questioning the status quo, processing my experiences, and differentiating myself from prior conditioning and patterns. I am endlessly curious about people’s journeys toward walking their unique, authentic path (which is ever-evolving), apart from the beliefs, values, and narratives placed onto them by the external.
I hold a Master's Degree in Mental Health Counseling from Hunter College, a Juris Doctor from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, and a Bachelor’s degree from Georgetown University. I have a background advocating for quality legal representation for individuals within the criminal justice system, along with effective, compassionate, and comprehensive rehabilitation and re-entry into society.
