Trauma
Trauma is an emotional or physical resonse to a single traumatic event, series of events, or circumstances. At West Therapy Group, we provide specialized care for the spectrum of trauma disorders, including customized treatment to reduce trauma symptoms and restore functioning.
How do I know if I have trauma?
Everyone experiences trauma differently, as well as having different reactions to the event(s). In the short term, you may experience shock, denial, anxiety, sadness, anger, trouble sleeping, and flashbacks. The longer-term effects of trauma can decrease your sense of safety, ability to regulate your emotions, and have healthy relationships.
What can therapy do for my trauma?
Trauma can occur at any age, but it can have particularly debilitating long-term effects on children's developing brains. At West Therapy Group, we believe in the power of psychodynamic therapy. This means that we are looking at you as a whole, starting from childhood. It also means that we are working on your relationship to your trauma as part of a bigger picture. You’re a person first, and what happened to you second.
