George Lawson, Clinical Intern

(He/Him)
Individuals & Couples

My approach is warm, empathetic and humorous, and you can expect a safe and non-judgmental environment. I value the power of a strong therapeutic relationship as a foundation from which we can improve our understanding of self, the potential of our closest relationships, and the pressures and opportunities of our environment. I draw from schools of psychodynamic and person-centered therapy to assist clients in understanding their past and how it affects their present, while working to address here and now issues through techniques drawn from choice theory and positive psychology.

I am interested in working with individuals and couples who are encountering some of the obstacles faced in early and middle adulthood including: career stress and transitions, finding significant relationships that enrich us, and building an identity that feels meaningful and congruent. While these challenges can affect us in different ways, I believe that addressing the root issues through deep therapeutic work is the best way to achieve lasting change.

Before becoming a therapist, I worked in engineering and consulting. I have experience in high pressure environments and in making significant life changes. I am completing a Master’s Degree in Mental Health Counseling from Hunter College and hold a Master’s Degree in Engineering. I was born and raised in Scotland and have lived in the US since 2018.
